Farm Rituals: Every afternoon, around 3, Maria brings out some stale or uneaten food. This afternoon, it was stale and old granola. It is favorite of the chickens. The dogs will grab it also if they get the chance.

Chickens Love Stale Granola

This is for Maria, but I missed a recent picture on her blog of the chickens. I am enchanted to see this friendship. My only relationship with chickens has been of FEAR! As a child on an Eastern European farm I would be asked to collect the eggs. Those chickens and their even more belligerent roosters were determined to keep their eggs. I can still remember the brutal pecking as I had to push the hens aside to reach under for the eggs. As for Marias’s selfie with one chicken–I would probably have lost an eye!
