Pansies are important to me, they are harbingers of the Spring to come.
One of the reasons I will always live in a place with winter is that it makes me love Spring all the more. Color and light affect me greatly, and I miss them when it’s gone.
“Color helps to express light,” wrote Henri Matisse, “not the physical phenomenon, but the only light that really exists, that in the artist’s brain.”
If the light is the spiritual quality of painting, color is surely its heart and passion, claimed a European artist.
Winter is beautiful, but a world without color can often appear to be dead. Colors are ancient, holy, mystical, and primordial ideas to me, they are the children of light.
We went out and bought some pansies this morning those hardy and beautiful little flowers that tease us about the coming of Spring.
This morning, I got some onions and dinner plate Dahlia bulbs to plant in my raised garden beds. I’m putting the onions in this weekend, they grow deep roots that help the other plants and flowers.
