Things are rushing in my life; I’m just beginning to realize how much the pandemic slowed things down. This morning, I’m going to the Mansion for my meditation class (the Bishop Maginn Prom Meeting is rescheduled for Thursday.
We are re-instating the Mansion Pen Pal program, where I post a list of the residents who would love to receive mail and blog, and Army Of Good readers can mail them as often as they wish.
It was a great program, and the residents are eager to re-start it. So are many of my readers—more details to come.
We hit the $10,000 goal mark yesterday to bring Alina, Aleks, and Irena to America to rejoin their family (Aladin and Natashya, owners of the Slovakian Cafe in Troy, N.Y., and participants in our farmers market. They are very good people.)
The three refugees will meet with U.S. visa officials Thursday and, hopefully, will soon be able to come here. They fled to Poland with nothing more than one suitcase between them.
Thank you all so much for responding so rapidly and generously to this gofundme campaign, begun by a neighbor and friend, Mary Krasnopolski.
I saw a long list of familiar names; they are grateful, and so am I. The Army Of Good never seems to weaken or waver.
The slaughter in Ukraine makes it difficult to feel good or normal, but I have to live my life and stay grounded while praying for the brave freedom-loving people of Ukraine.
I’m proud my family came from there. I will continue to look for small and focused ways we can help. Thanks again.
My new and radically re-engineered new tripod arrives today, and my Leica and photo editing classes resume. I’m making slow but steady progress in my photography.
And I’ll be heading back to the gym tomorrow to be humbled by a tough old lady on the treadmill.
I’m off to make breakfast and head for the Mansion. More later.
