We are working to raise $5,000 so that Bishop Maginn students, who are losing their school in June, will have the prom they want and deserve. The whole school is being invited and the students want to rent a lovely space (other than the school gym), hire a DJ and mark the occasion in style.
Later, we’ll support an Amazon Wish List for favors and decorations.
Please help. Contributions that go to the school are tax-deductible. I don’t know how much money is heading for the school; I got $140 in small donations for the prom, that money is on the way to Albany.
We’ve helped get these kids through food and heating issues; we got them laptops, blankets, and school and art supplies. We helped get them through the pandemic. Let’s call them a prom that they will remember.
Donations sent to Principal Mike Tolan will be tax-deductible.
You can send a check to Mike Tolan, Bishop Maginn School, 75 Park Avenue, Albany, N.Y., 12202; please write “Prom Fund” on the check memo.
If you wish to send small contributions or prefer sending money online, you can send them to me, Jon Katz, Bishop Maginn (Prom Fund) via Paypal, [email protected], or through Venmo, Jon Katz@Jon-Katz-13(or by check, Jon Katz, Bishop Maginn Prom Fund, P.O. Box 205, Cambridge, N.Y., 12816.
I’ll make sure the ones that come to me get to the school. Small contributions are very welcome.
The school is closing in June. Most refugee children are already signed up for the new Catholic High School in Latham, just outside of Albany. Sue Silverstein is going, so am Zin and Inia.
Some will need tuition help, along with other things. We’ll be there to help.
I just love this picture of Sue Silverstein. Her sweet expression is truly the embodiment of graciousness, kindness, compassion, mercy, and goodness. The setting in front of the statue of Jesus is so appropriate. The school and students are so fortunate to have her in their lives, and I’m so glad she’s going to the new school with them. Thank you for sharing this precious lady with us. What a blessing she is!
Venmo ID isn’t working.
I’m getting donations from there, Jamie…
