Fate Sleeps Like A Dead Dog

by Jon Katz

There is no difference between a dead dog and the way Fate sleeps. This hyperactive, never-tires dynamo sleeps restlessly, in the oddest way in the strangest positions. I often use to get concerned when I looked up and saw Fate lying legs up and dozing.

I thought she had to be dead. Fate will outlive me by many years, she knows how to run and she knows how to rest. I got the photo just in time, she jumped up when Maria stood up, she thought she was heading out to the sheep.

  1. Love this photo! Our rescue, an Aussie mix, does the same. We call her ‘our roadkill dog’…shook me up the first few times, too.

  2. Our first Afghan hound slept like this on our little daughter’s bed. His very long legs waving upwards looked so strange. We were able to get a photo of this. One time he slipped down the wall side and couldn’t get out. His squeaks were pitiful, he didn’t bark . We had to ease the bed away gently so that he could right himself without thumping down on his spine.

  3. yes, Fate! Our Aussie Hamal (rhymes with camel) sleeps like this half the time……it’s what my dear friend Sandy Proudfoot refers to as *tits up*. ! LOL!
