Our animals were very happy yesterday. It was warm for the first time in many weeks. They all clustered together out by the feeder and just soaked up the sun. The chickens came out first thing and got around to looking for bugs and worms, many of whom were making their first appearance of the year. When the ground thaws, worms appear.

Two big hawks are circling the farm, but so far, they are staying clear of the hens. It will be warm again today. Off this morning to get a blood test in advance of my meeting with the primary care nurse next week to check me out.

We are nearing the season of color and light, and this makes me happy.
