The Windswept Hill And The Upstairs Window

by Jon Katz

I headed for this beautiful hill not too far from the farmhouse, and I was rewarded.

This arctic sun was hanging in the sky, the sun reflecting on the icy hill, swept again and again by the wind until it was all ice.

Mid-afternoon is the best light for me right now, and the Leica loved taking this shot.

We also drove on until I passed this old-weather beaten house in a small town nearby.

As I got out to take the photo, an upstairs window caught the afternoon upstairs window. It gave the picture an entirely new dimension, eerie and beautiful.

My cold is mushrooming. Time for bed. Later.

  1. I looked at the first photo and thought for a second you were at the beach. The sun and sky in that photo are powerful. The second photo hit me right in the stomach, as all my favorites with your Leica seem to do. Thank you for these gorgeous black and whites. I’m drawn to them.
