A few days ago, we recorded one of the coldest days in our memory. We’ve had lower temperatures – I recall some – 30 degree nights in Hebron, where our first farm was. But the high winds made this cold especially brutal, even dangerous.
I was eager to capture the feeling of cold that night.
I did bundle up – no naked shooting here – and went out around 10 p.m. with my Iphone 13 camera and its new night shooting capacity. I didn’t expect to get much of a photo at all, but when I looked at it today, I saw a picture that seemed striking to me more than a week later.
I did lighten it just a bit to highlight the gorgeous blue sky I saw, but the camera struggled to capture the images. The phone was sluggish; it felt like it was freezing up. So I took two or three shots and retreated inside. The Iphone screens operate by warm touch, and that wasn’t really working well in that cold and wind.
I like the picture, it looked stronger on the computer than on the phone. I especially liked the way the full moon shines on the ice pack that was our yard. I wanted to put it before I forgot about it.
i might use this as a backdrop for a Poe reading. (that slab of ice has a life of its own, a frighteningly powerful one)
This is a very interesting photo, with a lot to take in, Jon. The reflection of the moon on the ice is chillingly good.
Burrrr! Shiver!
Fantastic photograph Jon!
