Coming Into Focus: Maria’s Fabric Painting, The Blessed Mother

by Jon Katz

Inspired by the art being created at the inspiration of our friend Sue Silverstein of Bishop Maginn High School, Maria is closing in on the form and figure of her newest artwork, a Fabric Painting of the Blessed Mother of the Catholic faith, an iconic figure for women for thousands of years.

I think this is one of the boldest and bravest works done by Maria, and also one of the most heartfelt and beautiful, especially coming from an artist who is not conventionally religious in any way. It isn’t finished yet, but it gets closer and closer every day. The detail in the pieces are remarkable.

The work is not yet finished, and not yet for sale. If you have any questions about it, you can e-mail Maria: [email protected] or follow the works’ progress on her blog: fullmoonfiberart.com.

There is much beauty and feeling in Maria’s heart. and in her art.
