My goal – a fantasy right now – is to send every donor to the work of the Army Of Good a signed appreciation card either from the artist Emily Gold or, as of yesterday, also from Maria.
We send as many as we can, as often as possible, until we run out. It’s first come first serve for donations in any amount, large and small.
Emily is a busy and successful baker and artist; she can only make so many. Yesterday, Maria offered to make some when she gets the time.
This is a big boost. Emily and Maria both make beautiful cards.
Now twice as many people can get appreciation cards from donors to the cause of the Mansion, the Afghan refugees, and the refugee and inner-city students at Bishop Maginn High School in Albany.
I’d love to send one to every donor but can’t afford it.
(Feel free to donate to the making of the cards; it will help boost the program.)
Maria’s help with the cards will get us closer. I couldn’t believe how quickly she did them and how beautiful they are. Artists are different from other people.
Emily’s cards of appreciation are also excellent, and she is making more for us as soon as she can.
Last night, Maria sat down at the dinner table and just had the urge to try making some.
Emily came over a month ago to give us both a lesson. I’m still working on it; Maria, of course, took off like a rocket. I’m not doing as well.
You can contribute to the Army Of Good in several ways.
Here, by clicking on this box at the bottom of every post. Or by Paypal, [email protected]. Or on Venmo, jonkatz@jon-katz-13.
You can also donate by check, Jon Katz, Mansion/Refugee Fund, P.O. Box 205, Cambridge, N.Y., 12816.
Maria will make more cards, and Emily is working on some now.
The donations will be put to good use, and these cards are lovely, all are signed by the artist Maria has signed hers. Thanks for thinking of it.
We support the refugees at Bishop Maginn and the school itself, which does such excellent work with needy and vulnerable children. We support the Mansion, an assisted care facility in Cambridge, N.Y., and its residents.
I’m teaching two classes there, one a prayer session and a meditation class.
Maria is teaching the students at Bishop Maginn how to sew. Zinnia is the school’s therapy dog, and I search for students who need help, shoes, or recognition.
Please help if you can. I’ll keep scrambling for as many of these beautiful appreciation cards as I can get. And thanks.
The photos here are enough. As much as I’d love a physical card I’m happy to know mine goes to someone else.
Knowing how much you help these two causes & my miniscule donation is blessing enough.
I love you both, & Zinnia for the massive way you help.
I know you’re appreciated more than you can ever imagine.
God bless you all.
