After The Storm, Clear, Icy And Cold

by Jon Katz

We didn’t get much heavy snow, but we did get a lot of ice caused by the rain and the deep plunge into the cold. The sky opened up beautifully; I always feel it’s a reward of some kind for getting through the snow.

I love the sky after a storm. Maria thrive in the cold and was generous with the hay today. We have a big heated tank and the warm water helps to keep them warm.

The ice is pretty severe, driving is slow and steady, and the week promises to be cold for a good long while. Winter keeps peeking around the corner and retreating; this time, it might be for real.

We had to defreeze the latches on the gate and got lots of hay out early in the day. They will need some second cut hay for energy.

We are happy for Christmas week, although it looks like we will be dealing with Covid again in a significant way. We have plans to go away Friday for one night, but I’m not sure that can happen now. Bishop Maginn has asked me not to come this Tuesday; my Mansion visits are still on – meditation class and a prayer session on Wednesday morning.

We went to Williamstown tonight to see Nightmare Alley; I hope to review it shortly if I don’t get tired. I can do it tomorrow but I like to write reviews while my feelings about the movie are fresh.

  1. I always thought black sheep had brownish wool when grown out. But you have one that appears truly black. Are truly black sheep uncommon?
