Bud On His Winter Throne. Phoenix, The Georgia Poodle In Desperate Need Of A Home, Is Getting Calls

by Jon Katz

Maria thought I had lost my mind during a trip to Bellows Falls, Vt. I saw this wicker bench in a store mirror and had this idea that it would be perfect for Bud, we could put it in the living room on cold days and he could doze in warmth. It took him a week or two to get the idea, but when we put a thick soft blanket on the chair, he hopped in, and it has become his winter throne.

He is very happy there, and we are very happy to see him. I posted a piece about a nine-year-old deaf and blind poodle – his name is Phoenix – in desperate need of a new home, and I thought how close Bud came to a similar fate in South Arkansas. FOMA. an animal rescue group, rushed in to buy him his owner just in the nick of time. He was starving and suffering from heartworm.

I’ve learned a number of people have contacted the shelter in Warren County Georgia about Phoenix, but no word of a possible adoption yet. If you’re interested in adopting Phoenix, you can go to this website for information.

  1. I once rescued an abused toy poodle. He came complete with heartworm…advanced. He was the best dog I ever had.
