I don’t wear the hat (I don’t need to wear my politics or wave my flag on my car) but I like the sentiment. It’s clear by now that the very rich have lobbied the Congress for years now and pay little or no taxes. I ordered the hat because I saw it online, and it looks good on the wall by the door.
I’m not sure anybody I know, on either side of the great schism, would argue with the idea of taxing the rich fairly and equally. But neither political party has the stomach to tick off so many of their big donors.
When the rich don’t pay their taxes and every else does, this is one ways in which people learn to hate and resent their government. The rich pay expensive lobbyists, you and I can’t afford one. The system is way out of balance.
The Republicans make no pretense of wanting to tax the rich, the Democrats pretend they’d like to, but pass up every chance to do it. This is what I mean when it seems to me that for all the noise they make, they aren’t that different from one another when it comes to going to Washington.
They are at least supposed to pretend to represent all of the people. The politicians can’t afford to anymore, political campaigns are way too expensive for anyone who isn’t very rich or won’t kiss the asses of the very rich. I like looking at the hat when I go outside. Is it just me, or are the very rich ruining the world?
Give the hat a pat for me the next time you go out. Well said.
Oh God yes. My pet peeve. I get very wound up about it. In particular our so-called health system. There are a lot of people getting rich off anyone with health issues. The price of medications is obscene and if you look into medical billing….it’s all smoke and mirrors and guess who gets shafted. I like your hat!
I have the same hat and wear it every day. For the most part we have a corporate controlled government and media. We will never have a government that works for the people until all forms of lobbying is ended. The so called nightly news is no more then left and right opinion.
Nicely put, Edward..
