I am so glad to be able to walk again, I went up to my favorite country road – Maria and Fate, and Zinnia were ahead of me u in the woods. As I was walking past this pond of water in a newly manured pasture, I looked up and saw this beautiful reflection of a new shed tree right in front of me.
It was a cold and gloomy morning, and even though the image smelled bad, it was the most beautiful thing I saw all day. The heavy rains yesterday formed this lake on a nearby pasture whose farmer had just dumped a couple of tons of manure in next year’s corn crop.
I got as close to the manure lake as my nose and shoes would bear, it was even more beautiful than I thought. Nature is the greatest artist on the planet, there is beauty everywhere if only I remember to look for it.
I walked to the very edge, I’m not sure my shoes will recover.
It’s a great photo…and that low cloud! Looks like a big shark.
Well, if your shoes don’t recover you’ll know where to find a new pair of boots. ?
On the way…:)
You need to get some of those Amish boots for yourself! Haha
I ordered a pair, CHrsist, it occurred to me watching Moise work that I had no such boots, and so I ordered one, it will be here in a couple of weeks..
Love the reflection! Beautiful photo.
Good eye, you nailed it.
I can’t believe the farmer didn’t till or plow the manure into the soil. By dumping it without getting it into the soil all he/she has created is runoff. That runoff will eventually find it’s way into streams in your area and pollute them. I think most farmers are more conscious and follow modern farming practices.
Take it easy Jim it was pouring all day yesterday, a deluge, I’m sure he’ll get to it when it’s dry enough to get a tractor in that mud bug.
I’m sure some of the pollution has already happened (you did say it was a deluge). Manure runoff is a huge problem here in Wisconsin, leaving us with green rivers & streams. Every attempt to mitigate that reduces runoff.
Jim, this is not a conversation I’m interested in having here, I know the farmer and admire him greatly. I’m glad he didn’t try to take his tractor into that huge and deep mudhole minutes after the rain. If you feel comfortable doing that, good luck to you. Take care.
