The Mansion: Jim Sorer Sings Johnny Cash. A Musician Finds Joy And Hope

by Jon Katz

It’s hard to focus on Jim Sorere’s music at the Mansion, the aides can’t help themselves from crying. Jim is a bit in shock, but when he picked u the harmonica, it came back to him.

He is a bit shyer about the guitar, he wants to sound better. Above, Jim channels Johnny Cash.

Below, his first effort was on the harmonic, which he played Bob Dylan style, with a holder around the neck and all. Jim, said the aides, is smiling for the first time in months.

The Mansion is not a bar, but Jim wants to start a band. He’s planning on doing weekly concerns in the Great Room for Mansion residents.

(We bought him a guitar, a harmonic and some accessories. He was a bit shell-shocked, he’s beside himself with gratitude and hope. His music was everything to him.
