I’m happy to report that Emily Knudsen, the new Activities Director of the Mansion, has created a new and exciting (and inexpensive) Amazon Activities Wish List for the Mansion residents.

It’s up and running on Amazon.

Emily started her new job last week, and this is her first collaboration with the Army of Good, and it’s a great debut.

These puzzles and games all have unique uses and purposes – the preservation and restoration of memory,  games that challenge and stimulate thought and awareness, puzzles made especially for Dementia and Alzheimer’s patients, painting and drawing kits that engage, sequenced jigsaw puzzles designed for the elderly.

Emily did her homework; these are gifts that keep on giving.

In a sense, this is the most thoughtful and stimulating wish list I’ve seen in my five years of working at the Mansion.

So I went. First, I bought a Hodron’s Pop it Puzzle Fidget Jigsaw Toys Puzzle Push Bubble Sensory Fidget Toy, Stress Pressure Relieving, Squeeze Toy for $15.99, and an Amazon Fire Stick Remote Control Hd Streaming Device for 39.99.

I’ve seen the Hadron puzzles in action; they are stimulating and great fun. Older people say it challenges them and encourages them.

There are 25 items ranging in price from $12.50 to $29.50. My favorite is the Sea Animals Brain Teaser Puzzles ($19.50) and the Farm Memories Water Painting Pack, also designed for people with memory issues.

These games and puzzles are researched, and Emily has done a superb job of finding crafts, activity toys with a healthy agenda. These puzzles and games will stimulate the residents, improve their focus, pull up old memories. They are work designed as fun.

I also was fascinated by the Keeping Busy Match The Chips Dementia and Alzheimer’s Engaging Activities for older Americans.

Good work, Emily; I hope we can welcome her in Army of Good style and eat through that list quickly and with love.
