I know Flo as a sweet and affectionate creature, she sure knows how to seduce and manipulate me. The thing I have come to love about cats is their duality.
Flo loves to sit in my lap and our. She also loves to prowl the farm and kill things – snakes, mice, moles, birds, baby rabbits, baby birds.
I know of no other animal that can be so kind and loving, and so murderous and cruel. Like many cats, Flo is independent and chooses to live outside, on her own terms, in her own way.
In raging storms, she is either up in a corner of the barn, or high up in the woodshed.
She loves us, but up to a point. She has her own life, and she loves that too. I love her for that, she never completely gives herself to a human the way dogs do.
I appreciate the duality of cats. They can be devoted, but they never completely give themselves away. This photo caught the other Flo, the one who loves to kill and torture things.
