Something about laundry day at the Miller’s – that is every Monday – seems iconic and especially beautiful to me. Their clothesline is magnificent – beautiful, proud, evocative. They have created a beautiful world for themselves.

Monday: Laundry Day At The Millers. A String Of Beauty
by Jon Katz
This photo looks like a painting by Edward Hopper. Beautiful.
Just beautiful – brings special memories of my childhood 75 years ago. Jon, did you ever find out HOW they wash all those clothes? Do they have gas-powered machines? Surely they don’t wash all those clothes by hand in a washpot over a fire outside like my Mother did before I came along. (I still have my Mother’s black washpot – I planted flowers in it).
I haven’t asked about that yet, Charlotte neither idea would surprise me…
Delicate and strong..thank you.
Yes, that beautifully hung and artful clothesline gets me every time! A work of art. Like Charlotte, I am curious as to how they accomplish the washing………

I hang out laundry, but not colored things because they fade in the sun. My colored laundry goes on a clothes rack in the kitchen.
