Yesterday, the bandage around my foot came off. We talked to the nurses, and we said we would put it back ourselves. It came off two times during the night; even Maria couldn’t figure out how to keep the bandages on.
It is imperative, the doctor says, that they not be exposed to the air or dirt or the floor or bedsheets. We are tired but determined.
We’re going back to let the professionals try it out. We can’t figure out why so many strong bandages are not holding up. And we need to figure it out before the weekend. So we’re off to see Dr. Daly yet again.
These are the ups and downs of recovery. The wound looks good, but it hurt during the night. So we’re on it. And we need to sleep. The sleep apnea machine was great. Slept for four hours until the bandage drama began.
I didn’t realize the bandages were off until I stood up, and then the wound let me know.
Later.
Hi Jon,
Just wondering if putting a large bed tray (with legs) at the bottom of your bed where your toes and feet would be would help, UNDER the sheet with any other bedding on top of the tray, and tucked in securely so the tray doesn’t move. Too restrictive?
