Barn Cat Sisters

by Jon Katz

Minnie and Flo, our two barn cats, never had much use for one another. A year ago, that changed. They began curling up together and keeping each other warm. They are getting older and easier. In the dark, cold days, they will move into the basement for the winter. So far, they are content sleeping on the back porch. They are hunting less these days and sleeping more. They deserve this peacefulness and comfort.

  1. Beautiful cats. Are they still ‘in tact’? The one to the right seems like a Tom with the typical wide face of full tomcat.
I am currently raising a litter of kittens from a feral mom. Planning to get her spayed when the last two kittens leave for adoption. She had a total of 6 and we are trying to domesticate mom so she can live on a farm like yours, ideally. I am not sure that she would ever be OK with living indoors full time, although she has gotten more approachable while living with us for the past 13 weeks. But you never know, cats are opportunistic and she knows I bring the food…. 🙂
