I have no idea what made me want this candle stand the first second I saw it. I just knew it was suitable for us and our table. It is so out of sync with an old farmhouse that it belongs.
Maria says I might have a gay streak emerging; she mentioned the new socks, new pants, painted toenails, my new hat. She said my love of this candleholder was unusual.
She meant it as a compliment, and I take it that way, but I don’t think that’s the whole story. I like having sex with my wife too much. And I think as I get older, the need for more color in and around me is surfacing. I don’t want to spend the rest of my life in those blue farmer shirts and jeans.
We lit the candle holder for the first time tonight, moving it to the side so we wouldn’t block the view of each other. I love it. Dracula and I could have lunch one day.
We had a lovely meal- an excellent Galette backed by our friend the artist and baker Emily Gold. I’m taking Emily’s collage class in a couple of weeks; I’m eager to start making my Appreciation Cards, which Emily does beautifully now for donors to the Army Of Good. she inspired me, as does her excellent blog.
The virtual collage class sounds lovely. Emma’s videos make it look easy.
The people who have taken it keep thanking me. And her baked goods are fantastic. Our kale galette was beautiful.
But the other star of the sinner was our new Candleholder, a perfect companion for excellent french pastry. We had fun taking photos of one another through the glass.
And me:
The candle was quite romantic. I felt we were dining together in some old European castle. It brings drama, history, and style to our dinners. The beans Maria cooked from our garden were pretty special also.
I’m looking forward to this year.
Oh my…that is beautiful!! I think Maria should consider doing a zoom class for all of us wanna be’s…just a thought…and then another is then that you, Jon, you can do a zoom on whatever you want, because your sharing in universal! Oh, it would be so wonderful!!
Thanks, Kate, I think the blog is my zoom class, as to Maria, you’ll have to ask her …[email protected] thanks for the good words..
Beautiful photos, Jon! So glad you’re enjoying!
Now, about those goats……
I love the candle holder…funky and elegant all at the same time! And, I love that you’re bringing more color into your life. At 70, I am doing the same…I just ordered a black/purple tutu and a purple floral crown/headband for a Halloween event that’s coming up soon. Something I’d never have done in my 50s. Getting old(er) is so freeing. 🙂
Beautiful, elegant, homey, romantic! Love it.
