I wish we could all leave the earth as beautiful as our flowers. This sunflower recently cut from a fallen stem will be dead in a day or two despite the water beneath it.
The falling of the stem was a death sentence; I know it, she knows it. Godspeed and thanks for the color and light you brought us. It’s your time to go.
I am always inspired by how flowers die, no drama, no lament, no renting of garments.
They go out in a flair of beauty and glory, grateful for their time to brighten the earth, full of good wishes for the life coming behind them. I admire their spirit and hope to die just as well.
Jon, you write the prettiest things! Just beautiful.
