I always felt lonely when I went to a laundromat or one of those car washes on the edge of town somewhere, sitting by its lonesome.
They seem like such an iconic American image. Dusty’s Car Wash is on the edge of my town, and I’ve wanted to take pictures of it for several years. I’ve been to Dusty’s a few times; the car wash and the laundromat are clean and well cared for; everything works as it should.
Sitting out so brightly in the night, it was a beautiful sight, and it was made for the Leica. It was a bit haunting to look out, but also quite lovely.
It has the look of an Edward Hopper painting – first thing that came to mind.
Thanks, what a great compliment..
