Emergancy Wish List For Bishop Maginn Fall Opening: Masks And Disinfectants Urgently Needed. The Delta Variant Is Here

by Jon Katz

Thank  You: The Wish List Sold Out Around 2 p.m. Monday.

Today, we are launching an urgent Amazon Delta Variant Safety Wish List For Bishop Maginn High School, so that the school can open safely in a few weeks. And the school has made clear it is opening on schedule. Classroom learning for everyone.

This safety list will permit the school to follow state and CDC guidelines for keeping students safe during the Delta Variant chapter of the Covid-19 pandemic.

We asked for a total of six items, all dealing with masks and disinfectants. Yesterday, I quietly put the wish list up without comment to give people who can’t get to the Wish Lists fast enough a chance to contribute.

Many people have written me to say they want to help but the list is gone before they get there. Thanks to those of you who donated all through the night.

To my amazement, a lot of people found the list and purchased more than half of the items.

Here’s another chance to help today for everyone.

There are just two items left but the school needs more than one of each,  so there is still time and room for about 40 purchases.

You may remember we did a Covid-19 safety wish list for Bishop Maginn Last year, and the school nurse told me it saved lives.

Every other public and most private schools in Albany either closed or suffered some sickness, some teachers died.  Everyone at Bishop Maginn was safe.

Bishop Maginn offered virtual learning from the first last year, but this was a hard road for many of the refugee students, who are still learning English.

Although the Delta variant is a setback, everyone will be in class and masked in September.

Bishop Maginn kept all of its students safe, the New York State Health Department said it was the safest school in Albany.

We can do this again, for much less cost and fewer items – the bulk of the safety items we bought last year – plexiglass screens, beds, signage –  can still be used.

The school is seeking two safety items, all that remains on the list: Lysol Disinfecting Wipes, Lemon, 80 count packs, $4.47 each.

They are asking for 25 packs of wipes, they already have 17, they just need 7 more.

They are also seeking ZTANPS Face Masks, Pack of 50 Disposable Face Masks for Man & Women. they are $12.99 a pack. They are requesting 40 packs at $12.99, they have 13 and need 27 more.

If you are uncomfortable purchasing items online, you can donate directly to me and I will make the purchases: via Paypal, [email protected], or via Venmo, [email protected].

Checks can be sent to Jon Katz P.O. Box 205, Cambridge, N.Y., 12816. Please mark them “Bishop Maginn Delta Variant Safety Fund.”

And thank you. This is the Army Of Good 22nd Amazon Wish List, our most effective innovation for helping the needy and the vulnerable. Everyone has sold out, a source of pride for me to the grave, and an enormous compliment to the many good people of the earth.

There are no middlemen, you get to choose what you buy and it goes directly to the people who need it the most.

You can see what’s left of the list and contribute right here. Amazon makes it easy, and the shipping default is Bishop Maginn’s address, which should be automatic.

If you need it, the school’s address is Bishop Maginn High School, 75 Park Avenue, Albany, N.Y., 12202.

    1. No, I’m sorry Nancy, I can’t. If you want to ask them, Nancy, please feel free to do so: Michael Tolan, 75 Park Avenue, Albany, N.Y., 12202. I don’t make up the lists and I don’t tell other people what to do and I don’t make up the lists.
