Whenever an Amish horse pulls into our yard or gets tied up on the fence, the donkeys vanish, they want no part of horses. But yesterday, when Pepper was tied up to the apple tree, I noticed Lulu kept peeking around the corner.
Fanny was staying safely out of sight, she hasn’t yet gotten over the male donkey Simon, who she and Lulu kicked in the head every single day.
At one point Lulu actually came within 10 feet of Pepper she had a come-higher look, I thought.
If Pepper noticed, he wasn’t showing it.
But I think Lulu is interested in him, she kept showing herself, getting a little closer each time she came out, then looking like she didn’t care.
I gave her an Alfalfa cookie at one point and told her (quietly) that I thought Pepper was a good horse, young, smart, and calm. I approve, I said.
But this time, it was the horse who was standoffish. We’ll see, Pepper returns to the farm later this week when Mahlon comes for his second coat.
Love the black and white photo of Lulu. Captured my heart. Excellent composition.
Absolutely love this photo of
Lulu!!
Jon, I think your black and white photos of the farm remind me of old TV shows like “Spin and Marty.” A simpler view.
Thanks Arah, that’s the idea..
Why is it that the donkey stories always make me laugh! They are real cards. These are the best columns for me and black and white is befitting.
