Thanks To The Sun, The Painting Gets Underway

by Jon Katz

There’s no rain in the forecast for several days. The farmers will be thrilled and Mahlon showed up with his brother around 2:30 p.m. to start painting our house.

The color was off and while I was driving some Amish to the bus station, it was what Maria called “pukey green,” when we wanted light blue.

Maria stepped in, grabbed the paint, and drove to the hardware store in Hoosick Falls. She saved the day.

She and one of the staff re-mixed it and she brought it back while Mahlon was papering the windows.

We just saw the color on the woodshed wall and we love it.

Mahlon expects to be done in a day or so. We will have a horse on the farm the next few days, his name is Pepper.

Pepper looks pretty sharp. Bud is going crazy, Fate and Zinnia just want to go out and say hello.

  1. Mahlon and his brothers worked on our barn this morning putting on a new tin roof. They did an excellent job!

    1. Thanks Manya, he’s doing a great job here, and we love having him around. He told me all about your roof. I used to live up near you, welcome.

  2. ‘Pukey Green’ would not have been good. Glad Maria could save the day – I’m loving that color!
