The chicks are chickens and we know have three white Brahma hens with a lot of attitude..

Maria feeds everybody around 3 p.m., and this now includes the hens, who wait impatiently by the back door for her to come out.

They aren’t fooling around. Maria comes out with some leftovers and sits on the porch steps. She tosses bits of crackers and feed out to the hens, and they are very polite and calm.

But they don’t love to be kept waiting.
