Maria and the Mansion residents illustrate a popular story about a baby duck who a family rescues and then one day goes off out into the world to live on his own.
Maria did this sketch of the duck leaving the family.
I planned to visit Memory Care with Zinnia, but she ate something that definitely did not agree with her; we’ll try again tomorrow.
We are wracking our brains to think of ways to cheer up the residents, the pandemic left so many of them in a fog, and they still have to wear masks, can only eat with one other person, and can’t be in groups larger than five.
It is heartbreaking to see the toll the pandemic took on the aides and the residents.
They seem lethargic and depressed to me after their long isolation from Covid 19. Tania Woodward and I have decided to produce a wonderful Halloween Party we hope will help wake everybody up.
It was Tania’s idea. I love it.
We want to have a spectacular party with brooms dancing, witches’ hats and capes, spooky music, flickering “candles,” LED skeletons, and games. I’ve volunteered to fund it. I’m excited about it.
I’ll use the $400 overage from the tablet fundraising to pay for it; I don’t need more. I’ll keep you posted. The residents are already excited. Maria will help with the costumes, and she and I will dance at the Witches Ball.
