This is my favorite of the many photos I’ve taken around our new Amish neighbors, while hopefully respecting the limits on my photography. They have witnessed and approved every photo of them and their farm that I have taken.
I am grateful to the Miller family for the opportunity they have allowed me to capture some of the life of this remarkable, mystical and extraordinary family.
The image was instantly iconic for me, it captured the power and love of family and the hard work and faith that bides this family together.
This love and faith help them accomplish things that seem impossible to me.
My wife Maria was a picture framer in her former life, this afternoon, she took the time to piece the picture together with a frame made by an Amish artisan and sold on the farm of Moise’s brother-in-law Jacob.
We never seen to run out of the things this woman can do. As I write this, she is outside stacking the latest cord of firewood that arrived as we start to prepare for the winer.
I lived alone on the first Bedlam Farm for six years, I cannot conceive of living on this farm for a single day without Maria. This photo is a labor of love for me, the image, the frame, the people in the image, the person who framed the photo.
It is hanging on my study wall, I can see it whenever I turn around.
That is beautiful.
wow. everything so perfect. worth a thousand words. great frame job.and i love the edge of her skirt included in photo.
I LOVE that photo. It’s gorgeous and the frame really suits it. Well done!
