Blueberries About To Burst

by Jon Katz

I bought two blueberry bushes for our farm when I ordered the 40 for Moise. My two are doing well, as are his. The berries on one are just about to pop, they’ll be in a bowl in the refrigerator by next week.

I’ve watered them twice a day, trimmed them, and fenced them to keep the berries away from deer birds, and rabbits. Gardening and planting have finally taken route in my soul. About time. I want to create more life. Maybe I’ll try raspberries next year.

  1. I grow black raspberries and black berries. For some reason my raspberry bushes didn’t thrive as long as the other two types of berries.
I are a handful of sun warmed black raspberries yesterday. They were delicious ?.

  2. Red foxes love blueberries too. In North Carolina my son had a long row of blueberry bushes and I used to go over every evening to pick them. I began seeing a little red fox working the bushes at the far end of the row. So I left those for him (or her.)
