I often stop by in the morning to say good morning to Moise and see what’s new. He is always excited to see me and come and tell me the things that have happened between the previous afternoon and the morning.
Today, Barbara ran out of zucchini for her very popular Zucchini bread, and I ran out to the local grocery and got the last 15 they had. The zucchini bread will be made tomorrow and will also be on hand for Donut Friday this coming Friday.
Moise was beaming; he said he got a new goat, a male the children named Nick, so the two would be Nick and Nancy. Nick and Nancy are sweet creatures, and I saw Tina going up to meet them and hang out on their hill.
Moise says he’s not planning a goat herd for a while, but things might be out of his hands soon.
The Amish animals are truly impossible to rattle or upset. When I came back with the zucchini this afternoon, Moise took a crew on into the back pastures to do some more plowing.
Tina was tagging along.
I can’t wait to see what tomorrow’s news brings.
Since the Amish do no marketing or advertising, I’ve decided to give them a boost and talk up Donut Friday, which goes all day Friday.
You can buy the donuts out of their Farm and Produce shed on Route 22 just below Lauderdale Lake., I think the GPS number is 3608 Route 22, Cambridge, N.Y., 12816. You can’t miss the shed or the crop field right next to it.
There will be pies, cookies, rugs, fresh-baked zucchini bread in the shed as well. There is a lot of buzzing about the donuts in town. As a diabetic, I can’t eat them, but I can sure smell them and yearn.
The Amish are bringing many farmsĀ back to life around here; their farm is a beautiful thing to see.
My Mother used to make donuts like that on our farm. The crockery jar was always full of them. That photo had my mouth watering. I could fairly smell those donuts!
