Every time I pull into Moise and Barbara’s backyard, I think I’m in some museum. But the truth is, it is very, very real and very now.
There is a lot of real-life happening at the Miller farm, every minute of every day. It was cold and extremely windy this afternoon, but the plowing went on. The horses were ready to go once the onion field was planted by hand.
I am drawn to the look and feel of an Amish backyard. Saturday afternoon, Moise and I are taking another road trip to the bus station in Glens Falls, N.Y. He is going to visit friends way upstate. The Amish do not let friendships lag, they revere them and keep up with them.
We plan to talk about crop-protected dogs, and of course, soil and fencing. I’ve invited him to come and see Liz, our shearer at work next Friday. He says he’d love to.
Do they raise animals to sell?
Nope…they might sell goats later, but not for now..
