It had never occurred to me that it would be so much fun to sit with an Amish farmer at my computer for more than an hour while I tore across the Internet, looking for bargains, hunting for deals, comparing prices, alert for free shipping.
Mosie can’t use a computer of course, but he can give me lots of directions while I do. I can’t say I didn’t love it.
We were both quite pleased with ourselves, Mosie even gave me an Amish high-five, which is not quite as effusive as the English kind. We got what we wanted at great prices with free shipping.
One thing I learned about Mosie – he really loves to save money. That is great fun for him. I suppose it’s better than watching football games on Sunday.
When he realized how much time we had spent buying pie and donut boxes – his family has 40 pies orders to fill by the weekend- he realized he only had a few hours to till his pasture before it was supposed to rain.
He untied the horse to our barn horse ring, and tore down the driveway, trotting at a good speed up the hill. I did manage to get a shot of him in retreat, those are permitted so long as I don’t show his face.
I printed out all the receipts, I’ll bring them to him tomorrow in just a plain old car.
These Amish posts are beautiful!! You certainly know a good story when you see one!
I’m very much enjoying it, it seems a gift that dropped out of the sky
I don’t know who is enjoying this the most, those of us waiting for these beautiful stories or you and Maria living it! Just wonderful!
I hope you’re enjoying reading them as much as I am enjoying writing them..
Just wondering: are those wheels on Moise’s cart made out of wood? And by the way, your accounts of daily interaction with the Amish are just wonderful!!
Thanks Kaaren, I don’t know what the wheels are made of..
