Home Again, Home Again, Jiggidy, Jig

by Jon Katz

We got home early this afternoon. we had a wonderful time eating, reading, sleeping, talking exploring. I fell in love with Bellows Falls, Vt., an old mill town trying to transform itself into an artist haven full of character.

We walked all over this enchanting.

I didn’t miss writing or my devices for a second, I read more in two days than I have been able to do in months. Got to work on that.

She bought me a paper mache chicken I named Bess. She’s going on my desk. She didn’t say why Bess reminded her of me, but I can guess.

When we got home, we decided to let Robin (I think his name ought to be Hopalong) out into the pasture with his mother.

She wouldn’t say why the chicken reminded her of me, but I can guess.

Got to get out onto the pasture, run the dogs, unpack my medicines and clothes and books. I’ll post some photos and more about the books I read later.

I’ve got to run some book up to our Amish kid neighbors down the road.

I got my car back on Thursday and am very happy to have it.

The inn is starting to fill up with vaccinated tourists, and I’m not sure we will be able to afford it in a few weeks, or that there will be any room. Very glad we got this time together.

We’ve been to the inn several times during the pandemic and it was blissfully quiet and restful. We did hear some great country music Friday night.

    1. I can’t do that for you Richard, it’s your account, you can deleted it and enter a new one or just enter a new one in the same space…

  1. Love Bess….Much travel where I have collected so many things art related. Always nice to now the artist and have that memory in your head. Glad you got a couple days away, but this is always the thing travelers face….How long can I go on a trip? I have a 15 year old dog who I need as much as she needs me….But have an end of May trip from Denver that I want to take. First visit sisters in Pittsburgh, followed with a visit to DC if the Smithsonian reopens. SO a 10-15 day trip…
