Maria Touches Up The Frieda Kahlo Bathroom

by Jon Katz

Maria used to work like a demon on her art five days a week and on-farm chores the other two. I badgered her into taking Saturdays off, she was getting tired.

But I know how her mind works, and I said instead of working all day Sunday, why not pick out one chore and just do it and read the rest of the day and go for rides to get Indian or Mexican food?

To my surprise, she (mostly) agreed. She loves Indian and Mexican food, which can often lure her away from work.

I think she has an ion battery inserted somewhere in her body.

Today’s chore was to paint our new bathroom sink red. While doing that, she noticed that the other red surfaces in the Frida Kahlo bathroom needed some touching up.

So the 15-minute chore is stretching out for three hours.

But she is very happy. Maria has some border collie in her. She needs to work. Her love of books is about the only thing that gets her to slow down and relax.

Hiking in the woods with Fate and Zinnia is the other.

I love what she has done with the bathroom,  she is the designer of our colorful and creative bathroom. I doubt that there are too many pre-Civil War farmhouses with a bathroom like it. Life with an artist.
