Maria wanted to celebrate her birthday and the Wolf Full Moon last night with a bonfire. We brought Fate and Zinnia along. It was Zinnia’s first big bonfire, a major step in her evolution as a farm dog and our family dog.

I am happy watching Zinnig grow and change with us.

She is a dog who can go anywhere, stay calm and grounded. She sat by me or Maria for at least two hours, barely moving away from the fire, and starting at almost hypnotically.

She even helped us pick up some sticks. Mostly, she just sat up watching, putting her head on my knee, listening to the crackling of the fire.

What a wonderful dog she is for me now.
