Beating The Blech. Too Busy To Mope

by Jon Katz

I can only put up with being blue for so long; there are just too many wonderful things to be doing in life.

I started the day with a muff/chicken sausage breakfast, then headed to the gym. I’m a little ahead of myself, I’m not quite ready for the gym yet, but I did 20 minutes on a bike and then came home.

Maria and I went out to brush the donkeys, and there are few better soothing and contemplative and meaningful things to do than commune with donkeys when the Blech strikes.

Donkeys and Labs are the therapists and healers of the animal world. Donkeys have been around humans for thousands of years, they know us well and read our moods instantly.

I took Zinnia out to the pasture and threw the ball for her – video to come and next, Maria and I will head out to the food-co-op to get some groceries and eggs and then to Hoosick Falls to check out the new canal walkway there and order pizza from the hip new pizza place downtown.

It always lifts my spirits to see a dog do what a dog is supposed to do. They know how to have fun.

Hoosick Falls, a venerable old mill town on hard times and staging a comeback, new shops all over the place. Then back home to clean out the fish tank, eat the pizza, and blog and write.

That adds up to a wonderful day for me; my recovery is underway.
