Christmas Lights

by Jon Katz

Well, Merry Christmas night.

Every year, we put Christmas lights on the farmhouse, front and back, our way of celebrating the holiday and giving the people riding by something bright and colorful to see.

We have made a significant turn from the turmoil and anxiety of last year. I’m getting my head straight about politics. Politicians exist to serve the people, not to anger and frighten them.

They will not bring darkness into my spirit.

My focus will once again be on doing good rather than arguing about it. This work is uplifting and enriching. The Mansion residents and the Bishop Maginn students and refugee families will need help next year, now more than ever.

And as always, I’ll look for opportunities to perform small acts of great kindness. In my mind, the spirit of Christmas goes on all year.

I can’t thank you enough for your support and encouragement. I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and are full of hope and promise for 2021. Much love to you all.
