It was pitch black, there was no moon and only some reflected light from Maria’s studio. It was bitter cold, the big storm is just a few minutes away. Fate was sitting outside Maria’s studio – she was inside belly dancing on Zoom – I barely noticed her there.

I had my Iphone 12 with me and I took this shot in the dark, and it captured the mystery of Fate and the loyalty of border collies. Maria must have let her out of the studio for a few minutes – she loves the cold – and Fate was waiting patiently and quietly for her.

When she wants to come in, she scratches at the door. But she also loves to sit and wait. I was surprised my camera picked up this silhouette. And pleased.
