“If your eyes are blinded with your worries, you cannot see the beauty of the sunset.” – Jiddu Krishnamurti
I think the most satisfying part of living on a farm with animals is the sense of peacefulness and order that comes when the animals are fed.
In most ways, they are completely dependent on us, nowhere more than for food. As soon as we get up, we go out to the pasture and bring the hay out to the sheep and donkeys.
They gather in an orderly circle and eat quickly and peacefully. They live very much in the moment, don’t miss the past or worry about the future.
Starting the day this way grounds me and centers me. I look forward to the two daily feedings, they calm and leave me with a sense of safety and accomplishment.
I just listened to a recording of Esther Hicks, about why we are so attracted to animals. She said that they cannot be anything but themselves, no agenda, no airs. Their vibrations are pure, and we are attracted deeply to pure vibration. I loved that. I think watching animals be themselves is so satisfying.
That is so true about the grounding of animals. I live with a rabbit and we both depend on our morning ritual of greeting and snuggling and feeding.
