I’ve always loved lambs but only occasionally love sheep. Lambs are everything sheep aren’t – curious, playful, adorable, ridiculous.
Maria and I are enjoying having two Romney lambs around (a third is coming). This justifies the cost and the work. Romney wool makes great yarn.
This afternoon, I saw this iconic image of Merricat, one of our two new lambs, eager to explore the North pasture, but loudly begging his mother to come along.
She was having none of it, there was fresh hay on the ground. The image says a lot, about lambs, about life.

Without them, we would have no wool to knit. Does your cool winter weather help them to produce larger fleeces? We have sheep here on the northern California coast, but we may have snow once every 40 years so our sheep do not get the cool weather than yours do.
