I’d like to do something nice for the people in the Army Of Good, but I don’t want to take money meant for poor students and people in elder care.
I want a nice and original card to be able to send to people who contribute money. I can’t do it for everyone, but maybe every fourth or fifth one.
Recently, I’ve gotten to know a gifted artist and friend of Maria named Emily Bloom, some of you know her from the photos I’ve been posting of her quite wonderful collage art, which she sells as notecards.
Her are is wonderful, bright, lovely, and full of spirit.
I approached Emily and asked her if there was any way to get her cards that were inexpensive enough to be feasible. She came right back with an idea for her to make prints with her cards and sell them to me inexpensively.
You can see Emily’s wonderful art here on her blog. Her notecards are on sale and she is offering virtual classes on a collage that people are loving.
I think Emily and I have figured something out. She needs to make a living, but she supports the refugee cause.
Here are three of the print cards Emily will make for me. As people make donations, I will send them out at random as a way of saying thanks. They will all be signed.
I can’t promise them to everyone, and I want to be sure to have enough funds on hand to help people – that comes first.
But this will literally be the least I can do for some of you wonderful people and I will do it whenever I can.
The decisions on the cards won’t be made on the basis of the size of contributions. $5 are important to me. Just the luck of the draw.
