Visiting Emily: Notecards For Me

by Jon Katz

We visited Emily on the next to the last day the Bennington Farmer’s Market is open. It was quite cold, and she had sold out all of her baked goods.

I bought five of her collage notecards, I’ve started sending them to some of the Army Of Good donors as thanks for people who have been donating for a long time, or have really come out to help.

I can’t afford to send them to every donor but I will sell them to as many as I can without tapping into the hunger fund.

Emily is continuing her collage classes, which a lot of people are signing up for. She’s even made up a cool collage kit. You can check out her work here. She is loving her virtual classes.

I am amazed and delighted to see her new creations, they are all so bright and colorful and creative. I have to figure out a way to stay in touch with her work.

I’m going to make her an offer for more cards to send out to people. I don’t know if we can pull it off. I’ll try it.

She’ll be giving collage classes to Sue Silverstein’s Bishop Maginn’s art class once the state gives permission for the kids to work together. You can sign up for her classes and kits on her blog.

We’ve offered to pay for two classes. She’s pretty great. One day I might get to show her whole face. Or maybe the mystery is more interesting.

I’m going to miss the Saturday excursions to the farmer’s market. Today wasn’t Fall, it was winter and it woke us up. Emily was out there all morning, bright and cheerful.

  1. I LOVE Emily’s cards Jon! I can certainly see why you like them so much! Beautiful, detailed, artful, and yet they come across as so simple, which I am sure they are not. I am “addicted” to beautiful note cards and I always try to have a supply of similar cards such on hand for special people in my life, though I’ve never found any as gorgeous as Emily’s!
