When I was at the Mansion Friday, I saw that the “Heroes Work Here” banner that Maria and I made for the aides a few months ago, had been chewed up the weather and taken down.
So today, Maria and I (Maria mostly) made a new one which we’ll bring over in the morning with two stakes and some rope and put up in front of the Mansion building.
This year, the aides at the Mansion have been heroes in the literal sense of the word, working hard, long hours to make sure none of the residents got the Covid-19 virus.
And none of them did get it.
The aides have also been working hard to keep morale up, as the facility has been under lockdown since March. It’s a privilege to know these remarkable men and women and a great privilege to honor them with this sign.
We’ll go put it up in the morning. I’m not permitted to enter the building, but Zinnia is, and she’ll do another round of therapy work Monday afternoon. She goes into the building by herself while I wait outside and she visits everybody who wishes to see her.
