There is a lot of talk about people fleeing embattled New York City these days, but my daughter Emma, her husband Jay Jaffe, and Robin will be the very last ones to leave.
They love New York, and never tire of showing it to Robin. And as a photographer, Emma just keeps hitting them out of the park. I’m quite proud of my daughter, as always.
I’m grateful to Emma for taking these photographs and sharing them with me. Not only are they wonderful photographs chronicling the emotional life of a child, but they are also a way for Emma and Robin, and lately, Jay, to talk with me at a time when we cannot get physically close to one another.
I don’t get too many father-daughter photos but Jay is a very loving and present father. Robin is pretty lucky.
These pictures mean a lot to me, and I value them and am happy to share them. The photo is of Robin riding onĀ her father Jay Jaffe’s shoulders – she always rode that way on mine – on one of the bridges between New York and Brooklyn.
Beautiful!
This is lovely. Thank you for sharing your photos and your thoughts during this challenging time. Thanks too for helping keep me sane in these soul-frightening times.
Isn’t that a child on a man’s (with sideburns) shoulders?
On the Brooklyn Bridge?
Did you teach her photography?
You sure that isn’t Jay ???
I said it was Jay in the piece.
