A Message From Salem Community Cats For You

by Jon Katz

I received two messages from Darlene Phillips of Salem Community Cats, and I wanted to share both of them with you.

I thank you once again. You always come through, you make me look so much better than I am. The feral cats and kittens of the world thank you.

First Message Tuesday Morning
Dear Jon
Just wanted to update you.
As of this morning, we have received around $300 in donations to the SCC PayPal account, and a Facebook fundraiser that I started the other day, which had been sitting stagnant at $220 for days, took a giant leap to over $700. By that math, your Army took us beyond our goal in less than 12 hours. Nicely done!
A big thank you to your Army for Good. What a nice group of people they are. I’ve gotten quite a few very kind messages from your readers. Shows there is still a lot of positivity in this world. It’s very encouraging.
Thank you for taking the time to help our cause. It’s amazing how much you do to make the world a better place.
All the best, Darlene

The Second Message, 4 p.m.

Jon, As of this afternoon, we are at double the goal. Amazing! Such a relief.

Thanks, Darlene

________

Once again, I am reminded that it is so much better to do good than argue about what good is. Bless you, all, there is no limit to your great big hearts.

Because of you, 21 kittens will get the medical care most of them need, a chance to heal, an opportunity for adoption.

The Army Of Good is an extraordinary community, it gives me and so many other people great hope for America. People want to do good, given the chance.

I have lost count of the people you have fed, the teachers you have helped, the elderly, and aides you have supported in a hundred ways.

Now, we have added cats to our list of small acts of great kindness.

Some of you have asked you can continue to support Salem Cats, who do good every day of their existence and need help almost every day of their existence. You can visit their blog or  Facebook Page, or e- ail Darlene Phillips at [email protected]. She is something of a saint herself.

They bring comfort to some of the neediest and most vulnerable animals on the earth. I told Darlene that we are here when she needs us. I’ve learned she only asks for help when she is absolutely desperate.

  1. Dear Jon and Maria,
I thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping SCC take care of the precious little creatures who through no fault of their own are in great need of care. I greatly welcome this opportunity to help SCC and students at the Bishop Maginn School. I do feel calmer when I can see good things happening for some who need help. Thank you and Maria for overseeing the Army of Good!
