Emma continues her brilliant photographic exploration of love and childhood with a short but evocative video of my granddaughter Robin dancing in the rain on a soggy Brooklyn street.
Emma has always been a skilled photographer, but having a child like Robin has opened her up in a creative and poignant way.
What a record of purity, love, and joy she is creating with her photos of Robin, which she is kind enough to send to me.
Emma never talks to me about these photos, she just texts them, and I am grateful to her for that, especially since the pandemic has cut off seeing her or Robin for some months no, no end in sight.
I hope she knows how much I admire them and appreciate them.
Emma doesn’t really ever like being photographed, so I don’t do it, respecting her wishes (at last).
Robin does not mind being in the limelight, to say the least. This is a way for me to be close to both of them, even though we are far away from one another.
It’s our way of talking, of staying close. This is an amazing video.
Emma has some very special gifts, and we have found a way to communicate with one another without words.
I needed that, perhaps she did also. I think that’s how creativity works. You find away, even when the way seems to be blocked.
I love these photos and am happy to share them with you. They are a potent antidote to the anger and chaos raging all around us, a reason for hope and love.
Reminds me of Gene Kelly in “Singin’ in the Rain”. Pure joy!
Love this photo and video of Robin. Truly “They are a potent antidote to the anger and chaos raging all around us, a reason for hope and love.” Pure Joy dancing in the rain. So happy Emma shares these with you, and you with us.
Jon, this little girl is very special! Love her spirit.☮️❤️?
