On my morning walk, a voice in my head said “remember the blog!”
I’m writing today to make my monthly (or now quarterly) request for support for my blog. If you find it useful, entertaining, or valuable, please consider helping me to get paid for my work.
Those nice big publishing checks are a thing of the past.
I’ve been reluctant to ask for blog support this year; the needs at the Mansion and in the Bishop Maginn High School community have been great and continuous.
And I know many people are financially stressed. We are not impervious to economic pressures either. So far, so good, the Mansion and Bishop Maginn have gotten everything they need.
But my bank account reminds me that it’s time to support my blog as well, or it won’t be easy to support anybody else.
The blog is the engine that drives everything I do and everything the Army of Good does. I write just about every day and take photographs continuously, both of which are free.
Since I started the blog in 2007, it has grown and deepened. Thanks for staying with me, I’ve put up 29, 349 posts in that time, not including this one, and at least as many pictures.
This is my memoir, my living work. I dedicate the blog to doing positive things, to celebrating my life with animals, and my life with Maria.
I don’t copyright or watermark my pictures or words; they are my angels who sail forth to try to do good. Use them in any way you with. Information wants to be free.
I added some political writing to try to help people navigate the chaos our presidential election has become. I don’t want this to be a permanent feature of the blog, but I’m glad to be doing it on occasion. It does take a lot of time and work.
The blog itself is expensive to maintain, so it is my photography.
And then, there are all those new co-pays for my heart interventions. I’m done with book publishing, so no more revenue from sales or royalties. The blog supports the farm and animals.
I know the pandemic has made fund-raising more challenging all around, but the Army of Good always comes through; I am confident we can continue our good work.
There are several ways to contribute to the blog if you enjoy it and find it meaningful. You can make one time donations via credit card; you can send monthly contributions of $5 or $10, or donations in single amounts or a yearly donation of $75.
It’s not my only income, but it’s close.
You can always send a one-time donation via Paypal in any amount, [email protected]. Support the blog buttons are at the top of every post.
Please note that the blog is free, and will always be free. Daily mail subscriptions are not tied to donations or contributions.
All subscriptions can be canceled at any time. And no financial information of any kind is stored on my blog, websites, or the servers I use.
My site is defended and protected by two different security systems; both rated very highly.
I know I’m supposed to be mentioning this weekly or monthly.
It’s hard for me to do when so many people are frightened or in need.
But if I don’t do it, I can’t help anybody.
Thanks for your consideration, I will continue to work hard for you, me, the far, the Army Of Good, The Mansion, and the refugees and families of the Bishop Maginn High School community.
If you can support my blog, In addition to the buttons mentioned above, that would be great. You can also support the blog via Paypal, [email protected] or by check, Jon Katz, Blog Support, P.O.Box 205, Cambridge, N.Y., 12816.
Thanks!
