Somehow, I don’t think my granddaughter Robin will suffer from chronic shyness or lack of self-esteem. She and Emma and Jay have fled Brooklyn for a few days on a beautiful Long Island Beach.

This is a much-deserved vacation for all of them, Robin has been home since March, and Emma is getting a little frantic.

Emma wants to come to see me, and I would like that, but the doctors say to wait at least until we are past my next and hopefully last heart surgery.

Emma is being awfully sweet to me, I think she is worried about my keeling over one day. I assured her I’m okay, she will have to put up with me for awhile yet.

I don’t like being constrained in this way, Robin is a lot of fun. But I accept what I need to accept.
