Dining Music For Mansion Residents. One-Item Wish List

by Jon Katz

Got this e-mail from Julie, the Activities Director of the Mansion asking for two CD-players. She put up the shortest ever Amazon Manson Wish List this morning.

“Jon, I just put two cd players on the wish list.  Memory care has one but my other one was taken.

The residents continually ask for music during meals.  So I put on two for each dining room. It is for their peace of mind.   Thanks.   Julie”

This is a short list The Magnavox CD Players are $25.95. We are frantically trying all we can to cheer the residents up and give them hope, they’ve been lockdown since March.

They especially love to hear music while eating – they have to maintain social distancing during meals, they can’t speak to one another.

I think Julie is really asking for four CD players (I can’t reach her this morning) but let’s start with two.

ou can see the wish list here.

I’d buy them myself, but the Mansion Fund is getting low.

I purchased 42 special face bracket masks last week for the Mansion aides and for Bishop Maginn teachers and asthmatic students. Cost about $1,000 altogether but it is critical for staff and special needs students.

I’d like to get more for the Mansion aides and staff, there are about 20.

Some teachers have breathing problems as well and these masks are made to be worn all day without fogging or breathing issues, and they are safe.

People who wish to contribute can go to the Wish List (thanks or send a donation to me via Paypal, [email protected], or by check, Jon Katz, P.O.Box 205, Cambridge, N.Y., 12816.

Thanks much.
